TERMS OF THE COMPETITION


ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

  • Open to male amateur golfers who are active NYSGA Members with a USGA Handicap Index of 15.0 or less.
  • Golfers in the Super Senior and Legends division must be at least 65 and 70 years old, respectively, as of August 14, 2023.

 

ENTRY INFORMATION

  • Entries: All players must register online through this website prior to the established deadline (see below).
  • Fee: $200
  • Deadline: Entries must be received prior to the deadline (12PM EST on Tuesday, August 1, 2023). Late entries will not be accepted.
  • Refund Policy: A portion of the entry fee, based on the schedule below, will be refunded regardless of reason if the NYSGA is notified (315-471-6979 or via email at deb@nysga.org): Prior to Deadline: Entry fee less $20. After the Deadline: Entry fee less $50.

 

FIELD SIZE, WAIT LIST, AND HANDICAP REVIEW

  • Field Size: 84 players (54 - Super Senior division, 30 - Legends division).
  • Wait List Procedure:  If either division exceeds it's capacity, the field will be selected "low-to-high", based on the player's USGA Handicap Index as of the entry close date. A player who does not qualify via this procedure to play in the Championship will have their full entry refunded either (1) when they ask to be removed from the wait list or (2) once the tournament starts.
  • Handicap Review: A player must have at least five (5) scores posted in the previous three (3) months otherwise their Handicap may not be accepted.

 

FORMAT, DIVISIONS, & TIES

  • Format: This Championship will be conducted over 36 holes of individual stroke play (no cut).
  • Divisions: There are two separate divisions in this Championship (see below). A player can select - at time of registration - to compete in either division they are eligible for and may change it up until the close of entries.
    • 27th NYS Super Senior Amateur Championship (ages 65+).
    • 1st NYS Legends Amateur Championship (ages 70+)
  • Age Groups: In addition to competing in one of the Championship divisions listed above, players will also compete within the following age divisions:  65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80-84, 85+.
  • Schedule: The tentative schedule of events is listed below.
    • Sunday, August 13 // Practice Rounds: Call to schedule (see below)
    • Monday, August 14 // Round 1: 9:30-1:33pm (Tee Times)
    • Tuesday, August 15 // Round 2: - 9:00am (Shotgun)
  • Ties: The player in each Championship with the lowest score for 36 holes will be the champion. In the event of a tie for the Championship, a sudden-death playoff will be held immediately following play. If there is a tie for the winner in the Age Groups, the tie will be broken using the USGA's method of matching scorecards.

 

COURSE YARDAGE

The approximate yardage for each Championship division is listed below. The final yardages are determined by the weather and other environmental considerations.

  • Super Senior (65+): White Tees - 6,107y - Par 72 - 69.4/129
  • Legends (70+): Gold Tees - 5,394y - Par 72 - 65.9/121


PRACTICE ROUNDS
Available on Sunday, August 13 anytime after 11:00am - the fee is $55 (includes cart). To assure you secure a tee time, you must call En-Joie on Thursday, August 3rd. Identify yourself as a player in the NYS Super Senior Championship.

DRIVING RANGE
The driving range (included in your entry) is off property which requires you to drive your car to practice. If you are leaving the En-Joie parking lot, take a left on West Main Street then your first left on Industrial Park Blvd. The driving range is on the right.

REGISTRATION

There is no registration for this championship. Please arrive to the 1st tee 10 minutes before your starting time for announcements.


PLAYER LUNCH
There will be a player lunch immediately following the conclusion of Round 2.

 

ON-COURSE WATER & SNACKS

Water bottles and snacks will be provided on the golf course for players.

CADDIES

The use of a caddie is permitted - but not required. The NYSGA's One-Seat Policy is in effect which states the player is entitled to one spot in the cart, regardless of space, to be used either by the player or his caddie - both can not ride at the same time (limited exceptions). See below for the complete policy.

 

GOLF CARTS

The use of a motorized golf cart is required and included in the entry fee.

TEE TIME REQUESTS
The NYSGA will make every effort to accommodate tee time requests, which must be submitted before pairings are released (
click here). Pairing requests will not be accepted.
